This plug-in converts a feed from an explicit character coding to utf-8 and displays it. You should try it if you get an XML parse failed (...): unknown encoding error message when trying to subscribe to a feed directly. Assuming the plug-in understands the particular feed encoding, it will allow you to view the feed in Awasu after all.
This plug-in requires that you have Python 2.3.3, the win32 extensions package (winall), and—if you need Asian language encodings (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean)—the Python 2.3 codecs from cjkpython.i18n.org installed. If you don’t have all these components properly in place, do not waste your time trying to use this plug-in.
This is a standard Awasu channel plug-in. Install it by clicking New Channel in the File menu, then selecting the plug-in to open it. Specify the URL of the feed to convert by entering it in the Awasu dialog that appears.
You can create multiple channels that use the plug-in to convert multiple feeds.
Whenever Awasu refreshes the plug-in’s channel, the plug-in downloads the specified URL. It then encodes the feed internally using the feed’s specified encoding, then outputs it as utf-8 for display by Awasu.
The plug-in knows many different encodings, but it is possible you will run across one it doesn’t know about. In such a case you will get an error message from the plug-in when you try to create the channel.
